DNS stands for Domain Name System.
- DNS coverts logical address into IP Addresses automatically
- A logical address can be a website address like www.google.com or a computer name on a local network like bobs_computer.
- If you were on the same local network as Bob you could connect to his computer by typing bobs_computer and the DNS would look up Bobs_computer and return his IP Address of 192.168.1.5
- DNS is extremely necessary because no one would want to remember the IP Addresses of everyones computer
- One of the reasons why the Internet is popular today is because of DNS.
