The following steps will describe the boot sequence of a cisco router:

  1. POST – Power On Self Test – This checks the hardware of the router
  2. Bootstrap – Locates the Cisco IOS Software
  3. Determine which IOS file to use
  4. Loads IOS into RAM
  5. Look in NVRAM for Startup-Config
  6. Load Config
